A 14 year old can fly alone by him/herself and will be well taken care of, but you will have to pay an Unaccompanied Minor fee. I think it is $50.
Depends on the airline, American, Delta, and United have an $150 unaccompanied minor fee each way attached to the fare. However on United, minors can only fly nonstop flights. Because there are no flights directly from BTR to LAS, this rules out United. I suggest that anyone looking for unaccompanied minor service review the Airlines' policy.
