Also a cat's claws are it's main line of defense to protect themselves. They can lash out in defense or climb up fences and trees to escape from backyard dog situations. I've never had one declawed, but I understand that it is extremely painful for the cat. It can lead to a great deal of stress, if not infection. Please re-think getting your cat de-clawed.
