I came there on a walk at night to see the ghost crabs, will they be doing it again anytime?

Hello! The ghost crab program was stopped because they were held on the Coast Guard Beach. The CG shut down all public access to their beach three years ago due to liability issues and we were not allowed to run the public program. Our beach will reopen October 1st but has a federal guideline on all refuge grounds to not do anything that would endanger any species and the biologist didn't want the program using the foam sprayed into the crab holes to track and cast the network underground. The friends group will ask again this winter to be able to run the ghost crab program next year with a new Refuge Administrator who may not see the foam as a problem or perhaps he will contact the Coast Guard and negotiate with their commander who is now in charge. Our fingers are crossed. June

The beach we used to do the ghost crab walks on is permanently closed now to the public. It's owned by the coast guard. The refuge used to get approval to do the walks at night.
