My wife and I are beginners. Can we share a lane and will normal earplugs and safety glasses be adequate?

You can share a lane but will still be charged $15 per shooter. At least, that was my experience. Normal safety plugs aren’t recommended. You’re shooting indoors, which is louder than normal. Even outdoors, safety plugs are weak. Strongly recommend getting full ear muffs, or renting the ones they have. If you really value your hearing, put in plugs and then muffs on top of that. Normal safety glasses will pass. But again, you’re shooting indoors with less than optimal lighting. Strongly advise against glasses that have any sort of tint and are not clear plastic (clear, NOT translucent). Shooting glasses are often clear unless they’re outdoor use, and are usually more stylish as well. I’m not a representative of the company.

You can share a lane and they do provide ear and eye protection.
