Sadly no. The Twin Cities is however home to the 261, a Northern (4-8-4) configuration. It was restored by folks who were an offshopt of the MN Transportation Museum. But the loco is not displayed there. The MTM does operste a small steamer for fall excursions out of Osceola WI. The nearest thing to the UP Big Boy are the 3 Yellowstone's (2-8-8-4)on display along the North shore. The nicest one is at the Duluth Rail Museum, but all three are static displays.
It isn't. Big Boy is from Wyoming. Owned by Union Pacific Rail. The Minnesota Museum has several fine examples of steam power. If you have the time, take a visit to the workshops where restoration is being done. We visited last summer and it was a great learning experience. Also, visit the blacksmith shop.
It is not. Unfortunately. But we have plenty of other awsome ones! Come see us in Osceola!
