I'm sorry, but I completely agree with the original poster. I personally have no issues with dogs but it should not be on the non-pet owner to have to find a way to interact with dogs in order to visit and enjoy his or her local park. That is unreasonable. Not everyone is comfortable around animals, especially small children. It should be the responsibility of the pet owner to keep animals on a leash so that everyone can enjoy the park. And most parks and playground have leash rules for this very reason. For those who want to let their dogs wander and run leash-free, there are dog parks, like Woofstock.
It doesn't matter if the dogs are friendly. Pet owners are responsible for keeping their pets leashed. I have a 7 year old dog who has been with me for 5 years. Irresponsible and lazy pet owners make life frustrating and difficult for everyone else.
May want to read park ordinances. Sec 62-9 Specially states dogs are to be leashed. There are dog parks you can run your dog's free.
People who take their dogs and let off-leash are irresponsible and inconsiderate of others. They are not doing their dogs any favors and, at their lack of following county and state ordinances, give dogs a bad rap. They owe their dogs their dogs the respect of being an ambassadir for the dogs. I have two Greyhounds and it angers me the display of irresponsibility of dog ownership by disobeying laws.
Most dogs if not leashed are very friendly. It may take a couple of barks and growls for them to get used to you. They wouldnt leave them unleashed if they were dangerous. Especially in a kid friendly environment like Dupree
The only thing I can say is drive by your local pet store during dog adoption days and spend some time interacting with the dogs. Unless dogs have horrendous owners, they are not scary at all.
Dupree is a really goid place to go, and the pets are friendly. You'll be ok with caution
Use caution
