This place is pretty nice, but like everywhere, there are it's moments. Personally, I was thinking of comin to Fla.
You can start at the VRQ, Veteran's Restoration Quarters. You have to focus on getting a place and make sure they know that everyday. It's a homeless shelter that helps Veterans. Don't get stuck there or pulled into the politics. Just stay focused and ask about housing; they can help with that. Asheville is a hippy town and cost of living is somewhat high, but if this is where you want to move, you can make the best of it. Good luck.
The St. Petersburg, Tampa area have two VA hospitals that are excellent and the rest of the population is very veteran friendly. But finding housing is very difficult. You would want to do your homework and try the HUD VASH and SSVP programs. I am a 100% disabled and unable to work at all and was told by the local VA HUD Vash office that they were full and that the whole county doesn't have low income housing. And what is the VRQ I am not familiar with that
I stay at the VRQ and they will help you find housing with minimal effort on your part
The Asheville NC area is a nice place to live. If you are looking for work here it can be difficult to find employment. The VA hospital is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway just off of I-40.
Asheville NC is beautiful and the people are friendly but you still have your idiots over all i love it here don't go to Fayetteville NC they hate veterans and treat us really really bad. Asheville is a very veteran friendly city and the VA hospital is great!
