Yes it is cheaper by a couple of bucks. I did it to avoid the lines, which evidently you still have to go on to get your wrist band. If you plan on visiting 3x get the season pass its worth the money.

No coupons that I am aware of but they are about $5 cheaper per ticket online. Worth every penny!
