Agree with other comments, not upscale but food and service is great. Ristoranto da Benito at Five Points is a good upscale option.

It's more intimate, not extremely upscale but the best calamari I have ever tasted.
This is more a neighborhood restaurant than upscale, but the food is very good indeed! There is live entertainment on some nights, karaoke on others, and the bar scene can be noisy. This could be great for a birthday deoending on what you want to do. If you want fantastoc service and are willing to pay for it, there are other options available in Union and Kenilworth worth looking jnto.
