After seeing a number of docs elsewhere with no improvement, I went to Parkland ER. BEST MOVE EVER. Found a truly obscure problem, and got me in treatment. Yes, if you just have a cold or something relatively minor, don't go to ER. Go to Urgent Care. They have over 100 ER beds, but when they are backed up with colds or sore throats, you may have to wait.
You get seen depending on the severity of your illness/injury. If you came to the ER for a basic illness, and there are several people ahead of you suffering seizures, strokes, heart attacks, broken bones, internal bleeding... You're going to have to wait.
