Named after Argyle Hotel which stood on that site.

Yup. A large hotel built in 1882 named Hotel Argyle at the time built near a lake which known as Lake Blythebourne. Afterward the lake name was changed to Argyle. The hotel was subsequently demolished in 1904. 🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅
