Im sorry your pig is ill....i highly recommended the Bronx veterinarian hospital, they have great doctors and competitive prices---'no vet is cheap. You can also get his meds there as they have the meds available for purchase. There is also a 24 hour Animal hospital on 2nd ave and 62nd street right off the FDR drive. They have opthomology veterinarians who specialize in eye diseases and injuries. They are actually cheaper than some neighborhood vets----make an appt or go to their emergency clinic. If driving, you should use SPOT HERO (APP) there is a parking lot next door to the Animal emergency for about $15 dollars for 4 hours of parking. Get this App it will save you loads of money on indoor parking. I hope your baby gets better. ..don't wait, you dont want him to get blind in a couple of days. Be well.
I'm so sorry your baby is not feeling well & I hope you were able to take your baby to receive treatment yesterday, but in the event that time or other factors hasn't allowed I would like to make a few suggestions on things you might be able to do at home to make your baby a little more comfortable until a vet can administer proper treatment. I too had beautiful affectionate Guinea Pigs. I would simply take 1 cup of bottled water, boil it (in in effort to kill germs) add a tea bag while its still hot. LET COOL DOWN COMPLETELY TO ROOM TEMPERATURE, then with a sterile gauze or cotton ball clean the eye using gentle strokes, (DO NOT DOUBLE DIP THE COTTON BALL OR GAUZE) back into the tea you will make the tea useless, making sure that you get all the discharge that accumulates around the eye and hair. Make sure to clean your hands before and after treatment. I would do this twice a day depending on the amount of discharge. I hope your baby feels better soon. Good luck
