It is an angel named Moroni. He brought to light the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It's a history and testimony of prophets in the ancient Americas. With this new information, and additional revelation from God, the prophet Joseph Smith was then able to restore the same church that Jesus established when He was on the earth.
He was also the last prophet in the Americas before Joseph Smith. He watched the destruction of his people and compiled the Book of Mormon.
