Like all hospitals, PIMC is mandated to alert Child Protective Services (CPS) if it is suspected that there is abuse or neglect of a child. If a newborn’s mother has a history of substance abuse throughout the pregnancy, CPS will be notified. However, CPS will only take a child directly from the hospital if the mother of the baby has had an extensive background with CPS, or if CPS feels the baby is at risk. If you or a family member have a concern about the safety of a mom or baby, please let us know. We can help.

Maybe if youre a druggy or have a baby addicted to drugs. Other than that should be all good, unless there is no financial support for the kid.
