Personal Injury usually means bodily injury, pain, suffering, emotional distress, and wrongful death.
I was a Correctional Officer in the Nevada Dept. Of Corrections and I was severely beaten and injured in 2003. I suffered from a traumatic brain injury, a broken jaw, severed facial nerves in my face and Severe Post Tramatic Stress Disease. I had to have major surgery to fix my jaw and reattach my Trijiminal Nerve in my face and I had my jaw wired shut for several weeks. This happened in 2003.I stayed and continued to work at the same institution for another 10 year and I was even promoted to Senior Correctional Officer. I was then placed into a lock down unit and in charge of 3 to 4 Correctional Officers at any given time. The pressure got too much for me and I demoted myself. I shortly ended up in a mental institution for approximately a week. I then was was given a choice to return to work or become medically retired. I chose the the later because I wasn’t really given any time to decompress and make an informed decision on future with the department. I really miss my career.
