Regarding the "Historic" portion of this community, could someone explain what makes this site historic? I'm really interested in this area and can't find any answers, thanks!

This community was once the Houston housing authority main office. The community was built for seniors and then they built multi family around it. Along with houses that they built near the community to collectively combine them as Historic Oaks of Allen Parkway Village, (HOAPV)Allen Parkway Village (APV)and Historic Rental Initiative (HRI). It is a low income based property that has a waiting list. They have plenty of self sufficient programs yo help you progress in life. Not many people know about it but all you have to do is ask.

Allen Parkway was founded by the Allen brothers, Houston's founding father's but built by slaves that were later displaced some living and some buried in the cemetery that was moved and many bodies were left behind "accidentally". This was once an African American community. Streets we're made using actual bricks by slaves. Some bricks are still paving few areas others were dug up and I have three of them. The city has sold many sections of the are now including a park.
