i got screwed on my update...new phone dont pick up near as good as the old one..drops at least half my calls.....

You don't have to if you opt to do lease to own but if you pay it in full yes unfortunately. On the bright side they have very cheap add ons you can buy to add for your phone at a great price. I did that last week.😊😊😊
