I've signed up for century Link but they can't even get the service up and running. Doed anyone know if I can get out of this contract and switch to socket?

Not Socket. Took my money and 4 months later still without service.

Check with Socket to see if service is available in your area, and verify what speed is maximum, then if service is available, contact CenturyLink, they may have a 30day clause, if you just signed up, pay that to get out of contract. Other option is to see what Chamber of commerce has available in your area.
