Do I need to make an appointment to come in to change my name on my social security card?

I never could get ahold of anyone to make an appointment, so I just went in. Wow that was interesting. They let one person in and 1 person out so there was a big line outside in the rain. We wanted about 1hr outside and 30 min inside. There were only 2 people working the window. The gard did tell me the line goes faster at 8 when they first open up. Wish you luck.

You don't have to, but you can if you prefer... I was able to make an appointment at the Battlefield office by calling the main national number. The guard may tell you they don't do appointments. They do.
