I have never had any issues like you described. The people there have always been friendly. Some of the vendors deal in vintage or antique items so they aren't in "new" condition but I wouldn't call it trashy. They have lots of new items as well. It's unfortunate you seem to have had a bad experience because it really is a nice place.
My Tribe has a booth there and the majority of our things are new and handmade by Native American people.
