I would see no concerns with whatever identity coming to eat there. The staff are very kind.
I know the south has certain connotations, but all Nashville really cares about is if you're cool. I know this question was 3 years ago, but I want you to know you're welcome here. Es un lugar muy agradable.
Environment is very, small and intimate. Like a dinner party, more than a fancy restaurant. Everyone eating faces in toward the cooking area, so that makes it feel more like a sushi counter than anything else I can think of. The folks who run the place are very down to earth and try to make everyone feel comfortable. Chef is a working-class type of guy and wait staff is multiethnic. Restaurant is located just off music row, clientele is in and among Nashville music scene, which from my experience is very tolerant of people of different races and ethnicities, so you'd be in good company.
Out-of-the-box. I agree with both points mafrroo123 made
Anyone can do this and it's not exactly what I'd call fine dining. . It's more of a put of the box food experience.
