Is it common practice for a store that offers a military discount (it's on the door)to NOT give that discount to a person in uniform unless the person asks for it?

Totally understood if someone is in regular clothes but seems disrespectful when someone is in their actual uniform

I have noticed more places doing this. You may have to ask for the discount up front to clarify.
