Search engine optimization, or SEO, involves getting your website to rank organically and is based on your location. Google Ads is when you pay to put your business at the top of the search results page and you can choose who will see your ads. When you conduct a Google search, look for that little box with "Ad" on the left-hand side of the search results, that signifies a Google Ad that will cost money each time it is clicked.

In my opinion SEO covers more than just Google. Google ad words is simply Google and not Yahoo, Bing or other sources.
