I think 1hr before is enough , trust me between check luggage and check point you will spend 20 minutes approx... unless you have some problems.
Hard to say. For one thing, this could vary with the popularity of the specific flight in question. In general, assuming you're inside the terminal by 4:15 AM, I think you'll be fine.
