What is "The Dismal?" I have seen several references to "The Dismal", but I do not believe it refers specifically to to the Dismal Trail -- which I interpret as the trail to "the Dismal." So, what is "the Dismal?"

The dismal is a forested valley between raven cliff mountain and Caesars head mountain that was dark and densely forested. when the early Europeans entered this area they said it was dismal. There is not a trail called the dismal that is part of a 9 mile extremely strenuous loop many refer to as the dismal loop. It is very appropriately named. Takes anywhere from 5 to 10 hours to hike and they recommend you carry a gallon of water per person in the summer if you are going to attempt it.
