Is this area considered more as a hiking area where hiking boots are required, or is this area good for trail running with or without dogs?

This is a great trail trail for running. I would not do it doing hunting season sept though feb. The park is designated as a dog training facility. Hope thia helps.

It has different terrain in the different areas. You could easily run on the groomed fields or the Hermitage Path as was posted before. I would use boots if going down to the river from the upper fields. I have only visited it during hunting seasons. Years ago it was used often by horse back riders but don't think it is used by horses as it has really gotten over grown by Pleasant Hill Road

Depends on which trail stretch you're on. The only trail I'd consider groomed enough for running is the rail line that terminates on pleasant plains road near the Hermitage in Chester and travels over to Ironia Rd and Horseshoe Lake Park. The other trails ate rougher, with rocks, roots and wet areas.

Check out Patriots Path...pretty wooded I'm guessing you could run there
