The package could have been addressed improperly for example if the zip code numbers were mixed up or out of order or just simply the package could have been placed in the wrong container by accident which will cause the package to bounce around from distribution center to distribution center and post office to post office. Rest assured postal employees want you to receive your packages as much as you do
As someone else stated, the package, most likely, ended up sorted to the wrong container. I know the general public often feels that Post workers don't care about their mail. But nothing could be further from the truth. Coming from a soon to be retired postal worker. PS; I currently have a package shipped FedEx that is doing the same thing. I'm in SC, the package came from CA. It came as close as NC. The last time I checked, it was in IN which is one of the states it had already went through. SMH.
Maybe the machine put the wrong zip code on it.
