As a business manager I know that we are prevented by law from asking to see documentation for the service animal as this would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act privacy. The only thing we are allowed to ask is what does the animal do for you. Off the record it really sucks that the customer can lie and say that it is a service dog when it may not be. There's a lawsuit in Waynesboro Virginia because a business owner asked a person with a service dog to see their papers. It really bothers me as well to know that a customer can lie.
