It is a Caribbean/ ethnic store. Did you expect anything else to happen? It is like using the exit to enter a place. The cashier is probably too scared to say anything when she sees the faces plus it be very crowded and people want to leave. It needs more cashiers.
Maybe the cashier decides to accommodate the customer, on the account he/she may not have seen the sign.
There may be a number of reasons, but maybe it is simply an overlooked policy (not seriously enforced) due to the lack of patience from the customers or the cashiers trying to assist with longer lines.
You have to ask their management... I do not work for them. I only shop there... They always busy and have my goodies
