What exactly is an ACTIVATION charge? If you don't know and can't confirm it, please don't confuse me with an "I think it means..." answer. OPTIMUM has given me several of these. Thanks.

Thanks. Maybe the sales reps and general agents should learn this. They are clueless and I assume Optimum wants them that way so they can follow a script that merely maximizes your cost. Online I found that installation is the word they should have used. Hard to hit people like me new to the area who read "free installation" and as I'm about to hang up the phone they hurry in a "then there is a $99 activation" fee, taxable at 10.3% I think. So they deliberately misuse activation for installation. This is too sleazy for words.
