They (have) inur(red) great expenses for food & beer, music & other entertainment, etc.?
Putting on an event comes with many expenses. A few include security, permit fees, entertainers, giveaways, etc. Unlike some other festivals there are no sponsors covering these expenses. Hopefully this answers your questions. It was an awesome event by the way!
