My husband is denying our mosque marriage, he took me to a restaurant and we performed Islamic marriage with witnesses. He was always in custody of the certificate. After nine years we had come to a point where we have to divorce. where to get copy?

As-salaamu Alaikum, first I'll say Masjid is for Allah that Muslims make their Salaat in it His sake, a Muslim doesn't despise a Masjid for any other reason. Marriage is the Sunnah of the Prophet, though divorce is allowed it is what Allah hate so it has to be the last resort, please try to mend your marriage, Allah will bless you more for that. A copy of any marriage certificate can be obtained at the place where it was registered beside you don't need a certificate for divorce the court can take care of that. My prayers is to try and find a solution to your marriage problem that is the best and if you divorce you don't know what kind of person you're going to be with (the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know). May Allah rectify your problem, Aameen.

Essallamun Alekum to all, I wish if I don't have to go through this but it happens sometimes. I am very sad that my husband chose another woman after 9 years of marriage. He has a marriage certificate and denies we ever got married because a court will accept it and reward me with some assets we got together. He is Egyptian and it was Egyptian imam. The marriage took place in a restaurant somewhere in Brooklyn. I don't know which mosque to go to obtain a copy of my marriage certificate. Please help brothers and sisters, any advice is welcome.
