My dad was Ruth Fertel's lawyer for a few decades, so I grew up knowing her & frequently in her first few Louisiana restaurants. ALL Ruth's Chris restaurants are considered upscale dining, however, many are in resort/ vacation locations, i.e. Ponte Vedra, north Naples/Estero. As such, it's not unusual to see khaki shorts, nice jeans, Tommy Bahama or golf type short sleeve shirts, nice cap & loafers or sandals (not flip flops) in the restaurant side. Bar areas are also very casual, especially at happy hour. On the other hand, you'll also see people dressed for special occasions, i.e. wedding, graduation, anniversary. No tank tips! Be comfortable, enjoy dining!
Happy hour barside will always attract unseemly customers, but it's more centered around the fact it's a family oriented fine dining restaurant. Dress for the occasion and the experience you're about to have. Whatever makes you feel one of a kind and comfortable.
