The airport tram is actually a monorail with stops at each of the 3 airport terminals as well as stops at the large airport parking garage and also at a separate drop off area for local hotel shuttles, taxis, etc. There is also a stop at the Newark Airport Amtrak station. Very convenient - and free for use within the airport. To transfer from the Amtrak station, you will need a valid NJ Transit or Amtrak ticket.
Not sure what you mean by airport tram. There is the sky train that takes you between terminals and the train station. It's free.
