Good morning! Dr. La Cognata does an anterior procedure via a lateral incision. The incision is on the lateral aspect of the hip. Once in, the procedure is done through the front with an anterior approach. This is different than a direct anterior where the incision is in the groin and obviously different than a posterior approach where the incision is done in the gluteal area. All approaches have certain advantages for the surgeons preference and/or what may be required for a particular procedure. We hope this has answered your question. Thank you!
