Looking at the map I can't tell if you're on the lake or not? We're looking for some place outside or at least close to the lake to eat for dinner and drinks next weekend. (8/10/18) Should we arrive early on a Friday night?

Not on the water, but is a great spot.

There are several places on the bayfront with outside seating, but none have the craft beer selection that the Tap House has. Depends on what you are looking for.

It's not on the water and yes it gets busy on fridays.

The Tap Room at State & 8th(?) streets - great beers & food. Close to baseball & hockey.

The Tap House is about 4 city blocks south of the lake. The outside dining is along State St, easily within walking distance to the bay. Downtown is busy on the weekend, so the earlier the better.

This is located roughly 5 blocks inland from the waterfront, on the main drag of State Street. I would definitely arrive early on a Friday Night!
