Go to all shelters
You may need to go to the facility. If it was picked as a stray and not under quarantine, you will only have 3 days to claim it before it is released for adoption.
It shouldn't be shown as available if it's in quarantine. Also once there its state law to be held a certain amount of time, not a money thing. Just have to wait if it doesn't show other signs of aggression.
Go to the animal shelter and talk to someone there.
You will most likely have to go to all the shelters. I would advise you to do it as soon & as quickly as possible. Animals at Dallas Animal Services are held for four days total & if no one claims them in that time, they are then owned by the shelter & if meeting their adoption criteria, are placed up for adoption. The Shelter is currently above capacity & has been for some time. They don't like doing it, but when that happens, animals will end up having to be euthanized in order to have room & resources for all their current animals plus all the numbers of new animals that are coming in on a daily basis. Best of luck finding your pet!
