If it was a gas purchase, the pumps are automated. So, they would have to have a cloned card. Also, the pumps ask for and check zip codes.

Houston, Texas. Gessner at kempwood. My guess is online phishing to get the info such as c. card number and billing address zip code which is all that is needed to make a purchase at the pump. Also, not many clerks actually check id for credit card purchases unfortunately. I've had stolen cards before but luckily was able to prove the charges fraudulent.
