If your under 17 and want to watch a PG, PG-13 do you need to have a parent buy you the ticket?

Honestly with my experience I was 16 and I wanted to go see a PG-13 movie, I got my ticket without a problem cause normally they will most likely go by looks, I looked about my age and I guess he just passed it off, normally they do that, and so I'm guessing they just make sure u r thirteen or older

PG? No. PG 13 yes. Unless they don't ask for ID.
