To my knowledge you will still need the card or the app on your phone with the barcode, then you use the scanner.

We bought group season passes online. We used them on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. They did not ask for ID or scan our fingers either time. We went to visit our daughter 6 days later in Texas and took her to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. They scanned our fingers there. Kind of odd they didn't do it at our home Park.

First time when you visit they will scan and register for you and will work from second visit
The first when you purchase your tickets online the first time you go you cannot do the finger scan it is on the second visit that you do it.
