I’m due in a few to have my baby and I will be going to Abington, the hospital I use to go for my previous delivery is pretty far. I would like to know what does the hospital provide for mom and baby after delivery since every hospital is different.

The Mother Baby Unit at Abington Hospital provides supportive nursing care and lactation assistance to all new mothers and infants. For the mother, a supply of feminine hygiene products are given as well as Sitz baths and topical medications or an abdominal binder depending on the method of delivery. Patients are encouraged to pack their own toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste and shampoo, but we have some if it is forgotten. We do have photography services for purchase as well. Diapers, wipes and ready-to-feed formula are provided for the baby. Hospital receiving blankets and t-shirts are provided. Many patients choose to dress their newborns in clothing and blankets brought from home, but it is not necessary. Parents should pack infant clothing, a blanket and a car seat for discharge from the hospital. We also offer a number of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting classes. Descriptions and registration is available on our website. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
