Okay, but why did you go in to the ER, what were you seen for, and are you sure it was only 20 minutes? The last time I went into an ER, sans insurance, I only spent $100 for my visit. And I spent nearly 3 hours there just to be told I needed a saline drip for my sinuses. You can't really complain about being charged for going to an ER without elaborating as to why, and what all occurred during your visit. Did you ride in an ambulance? That would account for a great deal of the bill incurred.
I'm staring at a bill for an emergency room visit and it's $1300ish. I have Hard time believing you have a bill for $8500...If you're mad about the price, complain on Facebook. This is not really the venue for vague complaints...
I have a billing nightmare... my daughter was police escorted to the psych ward (dont misunderstand, im grateful to the officers involved) she was having a break down and became more distraught because of her lack of insurance. They assured her it would be taken care of and it was, or so we thought. The cost was paid through the hospital charity. What they didn't tell us, the physician is a separate charge. Which makes no sense. She was not examined. She slept and was transported to ogden regional within hours. Now, a struggling college student has marks on her credit and more anxiety over her credit score. God Help us all!
You know what, everything is negotiable, with almost any circumstance. But..you need to go in person to give a “face” to each situation
