We had a group of over 10 and it was crowded but we got seated within 20 minutes

It was very crowded when I went (New year's week), but we got a table within a minute or two of waiting. We were a party of three. Maybe we got lucky?

It was crowded when we went last so I would say yes... We put our name on the list and it was a 45 minute wait for a table. We took a walk down to the lake (across the street) but returned after 20 minutes to wait inside because they don't call/text when you're up and if you're not there when they say your name you lose your spot.

When I went, it was middle of the afternoon on a snowy day in the middle of the week, so it was pretty much empty. It didn't look like a place that took reservations, but I suspect that in season, on weekends during typical mealtimes, it probably gets really crowded... so if they take reservations, it wouldn't hurt to make one. Btw, if you go, get the key lime pie for dessert -- it's one of the best I've ever eaten.

It is not necessary, it is a very spacious and comfortable place.

Definitely. Not always needed, but highly recommended for breakfast and weekends.
