No, they are honest. I have returned many bottles there. The attendant will give you a slip which you take across the street to the beverage center to redeem at the register. I bring my bottles and cans in their boxes so they gave me a plastic bag to dump all the cans into. You keep track of how many cans you have and tell the attendant. The bottles I left in their boxes so counting them was relatively easy. If your bottles and cans are already in bags they will probably ask you to sort them into cardboard flats / trays but I don't know since I don't do it that way. The attendant did ask me to bag the cans up the next time and gave me some clear bags to take home, so I believe he was intending to "just take my word for it" ..which is beyond honest, it's trusting.
