I would like to thank you for the check, however, it would be most helpful if an accompanying letter of explanation was enclosed. In today's world of internet and banking scams, I am sure most people would assume this check was not legitimate.

I haven't done so yet, I hesitated as I wasn't sure if it was legitimate. I will do so tomorrow (Thursday). I haven't heard back from them directly. I imagine this is for a questionnaire, inquiry & survey.
