Can you walk the battlefield even after the museum is closed? I don’t mean after hours, but during the day just to pull off the road and see a Historic Civil War Battleground? Thanks!

Yes it's a very small battlefield and visitors center. There are placards at important stops around the battlefield. They are all along the road. If you can stop when the visitor center is open, try to because it's run by supporters of the battlefield. No federal or state funding. They do a awesome job of interpreting the battle.

Yes. As mentioned the museum and cemetery are locked, however, you can look at the information displayed and walk the area.

Yes, there are placards to read and it is a small loop to drive to a cemetery down the road and back.
