As John said above, it is month to month, with an annual fee due in Feb or March. And yes, they require advance notice to cancel, and it has to be in writing. Finally, they take the monthly fee right out of your checking account.

When I signed for black card member 2 years ago, both plans were reviewed and you could cancel anytime with no repercussions on the black card. For the basic card if you cancelled in the first year you would be charged a fee. Payments are month to month with a yearly maintenance fee.
My contract requires 0ne month advance notice to terminate. I recommend you get a copy of the pre-printed contract and read the termination clause. Gyms are notorious to bind you for life time billing. Btw: I have the basic $10 monthly membership. I don't know if the contract is different for the other memberships.
