I think that referring your son to Family Preservations or RHA in Spindale might be a good resource. North Carolina has cut out majority of mental health services since 2012 when NC did not expand Medicaid. Medicaid primarily paid for client services and because of cuts there are only a few psychiatric hospital. Broughton has cut out most services including long term hospitalizations. NC current theory for mental health is to get the patient stable (such as on 5th floor) at Rutherford Hospital. If you feel he is in danger of hurting others or himself, the magistrates office (bottom floor of Rutherford Co Courthouse) will do an involuntary commitment order to do a psychiatric evaluation at the hospital. You can also look into being your son’s payee if he receives Social Security and his medical powers of attorney so that you will have better control of his medical and psychiatric services. I hope this helps. I did mental health services for 10 years in Forest City.
My brother need help he has been hearing voices and seeing things for a while now he thinks someone is after to kill him and is on the run who do I call to get him the help he needs and possibly placed in this hospital (he was dionosed with bipolar at the age of 10 and also MR (mild Retardation) and has not been on his medication scince the age of 18 he will be 31 in may
