Do you need a permit or State License to purchase a rifle?

I have and ID from 1967 is it still honored to purchase a rifle .

If you're a NJ resident, then you just need an NJ FID card to purchase a rifle or shotgun. If you don't have an FID card, then you can apply for one via your local police department. If you're not a NJ resident then the firearm will need to be shipped to a FFL dealer in your state of residence, and you will complete the purchase there according to your state's laws.
