Are the apatments big, like a big kitchen etc, also do they maintain the apartments. I have read alot about the elevators , rats etc

It all depends on the apartment size. A one bedroom the kitchen is small. I never had a problem when they need to fix something and rats are everywhere in NYC- never had one in my apartment .
